The management of Gombe State University has distributed Ramadan palliative items to members of the institution’s junior staff to support their welfare during the holy month of Ramadan.

The distribution exercise, carried out under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Sani Ahmed Yauta, provided essential food items including rice, sugar and millet to staff in the junior cadre such as security personnel, gardeners, cleaners and drivers.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Office of the university, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Governor of Gombe State, as well as the Chairman of Gombe Local Government Area, Sani A. A. Haruna, and other stakeholders including Jabir Hamza for their support toward staff welfare initiatives.

Professor Yauta also commended the Executive Secretary of the Gombe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi, for the agency’s continued assistance in programmes aimed at supporting staff and the less privileged within the university community.

Speaking during the distribution, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Danladi Umar, praised the Vice-Chancellor for sustaining the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of compassionate and inclusive leadership.

He noted that supporting junior staff during Ramadan boosts morale and strengthens unity within the university.

Also speaking, the Chief Security Officer, Jaafaru Kamara (Rtd.), appreciated the university management and assured that the security unit would remain committed to maintaining a peaceful environment for academic activities.

Similarly, the University Transport Officer, Idris Umar, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his continued commitment to the welfare of staff.

The Ramadan palliative initiative underscores the university management’s dedication to staff welfare, inclusive leadership and the strengthening of partnerships that support the development of Gombe State University.
