The NSCDC Gombe State Command disclosed that no fewer than 700 personnel have been mobilised across the state to provide security coverage for the Sallah celebrations scheduled from March 19 to 21.

According to the State Commandant, CC Jibrin Idris, the deployment is strategically targeted at Eid prayer grounds, Hawan Durbar venues, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, and other public places, as well as critical national assets.

“We have deployed 700 officers and men across the state to ensure a hitch-free Sallah celebration. Our personnel will work in synergy with other security agencies to safeguard lives and property,” Idris said.

He charged officers to remain vigilant and professional in the discharge of their duties, stressing the importance of maintaining law and order throughout the festive period.

“We must remain alert and uphold the highest standards of professionalism to guarantee a peaceful celebration,” he added, while extending Sallah greetings to Muslims in Gombe State and across the country.

The Commandant also urged residents to conduct themselves peacefully and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

Similarly, the Gombe State Police Command announced robust security arrangements and issued a public advisory to residents ahead of the celebrations.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring safety before, during, and after the festivities.

“We have put in place comprehensive security arrangements and strategic deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration,” the CP said.

The Command advised residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements, objects, or persons to the nearest police station or relevant authorities.

It also urged motorists and motorcyclists to obey traffic regulations, while calling on parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and wards during the festive period.

“In case of emergency, members of the public should contact the Command Control Room or the nearest police station for immediate assistance,” the statement added.

Both agencies assured residents of sustained collaboration with other security outfits to maintain peace and security across the state.

They also wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
