Apostle Orokpo Michael has recounted a striking experience from a meeting hosted by Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, highlighting what he described as the difference between atmosphere-based anointing and spiritual authority.

He disclosed this in a sermon published by Kingdom Channel.
According to him, “When Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai came into the meeting, he sang and laughed, then declared that God would touch 400 people instantly. I was surprised because the atmosphere did not reflect such a move.”
He continued, “He said he mentioned a number so it could be controlled. At that point, I was even praying for him not to be embarrassed. But immediately he said, ‘Thank You, Jesus,’ people began to fall under the power of God right before my eyes.”
Reflecting on the encounter, he said, “That was when I realised there is a difference between the anointing you feel in a meeting and a man who carries a sceptre of authority in the Spirit.”
Recounting a personal meeting with Ukpai, Orokpo added, “When I met him, I came with excitement and gave a seed, expecting an impartation. But he told me to sit down and reminded me he had been in ministry for over 60 years.”
He said Ukpai’s question about the value of his personal library was a turning point.
“He asked me, ‘How much is your library?’ and I realised I had never even taken stock of it. He then said his own library was worth about N55 million.”
Orokpo emphasised the lesson, quoting Ukpai as saying, “If you want to lead your generation, go and read. Don’t just buy books—read them.”
He concluded, “These men live with deep intentionality. They are not driven by appearances but by consistent investment in knowledge and spiritual growth. That is where their authority comes from.”
