The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University chapter, has officially suspended the indefinite strike action it embarked upon on February 18, 2026.
The ASUU Chairman, Dr. Joshua Garba Mbave, told PERISCOPE NIGERIA that the union, alongside its non-academic counterparts, reached an agreement with the state government before taking the decision.
Dr. Mbave also disclosed that both academic and non-academic staff of the institution had earlier accepted a ₦500 million offer by Governor Agbu Kefas to suspend the industrial dispute at the university.
“Yes, the strike has been officially suspended,” Dr Mbave confirmed.
“We reached a healthy agreement with the state government this afternoon, and the indefinite strike action embarked upon by the union since February 18 has now been suspended.
“We commend Governor Kefas and all relevant stakeholders who ensured the resumption of academic activities at the university. We also appeal to the state government to remain committed to the agreement in order to avoid further disruption of the academic calendar.”
