In a renewed push to deepen environmental sustainability at the grassroots, the Task Force on the Implementation and Monitoring of the 3G Project in Gombe State, in collaboration with the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Gombe State chapter, has conducted a one-day capacity building workshop for local government officials under the Gombe Goes Green initiative.

According to information obtained from the initiative’s official platform, the workshop was declared open by the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, represented by the Deputy ALGON Chairman and Chairperson of Shongom Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Fatima Binta Bello.
In her remarks, Bello underscored the need to strengthen local capacity, promote inter-agency collaboration, and adopt innovative strategies to ensure the effective implementation of environmental policies at the grassroots level.
The training brought together key stakeholders and frontline implementers from across the state’s local government areas, with a focus on equipping participants with the knowledge, tools, and strategies required to advance a greener and more sustainable Gombe.
Aligned with the environmental agenda of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the workshop highlighted practical approaches to policy implementation, accountability, and community engagement.
Participants were also guided on developing structured frameworks and actionable plans aimed at improving performance and delivering measurable outcomes.
The event, chaired by the Emir of Tula, His Royal Highness Dr. Abubakar Atare Buba II, attracted traditional rulers, environmental experts, development partners, and other dignitaries, who shared insights on best practices in environmental management and sustainable development.
Beyond the presentations, the workshop provided an interactive platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, reinforcing stakeholders’ commitment to the successful implementation of the 3G Project.
Observers note that such capacity-building initiatives are critical to translating environmental policies into tangible results, as Gombe State intensifies efforts toward climate action and ecological restoration across communities.
