Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Wednesday restated his administration’s commitment to strengthening institutions and deepening grassroots governance ensuring no part of the state is left lagging behind.

The governor gave this indication while performing the groundbreaking ceremony for the Billiri West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat in Tal, Billiri Local Government Area.
The governor said the creation of additional LCDAs was part of deliberate efforts to consolidate development at the grassroots and bring governance closer to the people.
He recalled that his administration inherited a weak local government system but has since revitalised it to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

“In the past, your councillor was based in Billiri, but now he will be here with you,” the governor stated, assuring that the LCDA secretariat would be completed and serve as a functional administrative hub.
He urged residents, particularly the youth, to safeguard the project and take ownership of government facilities to ensure sustainability, while also calling for continued support for the APC-led administration.
Governor Yahaya noted that recent political realignments in the area would further strengthen unity and accelerate development.
Earlier, the Chairperson of Billiri LGA, Hon. Egla Idris, described the area as a stronghold of the administration and commended the Governor for establishing the LCDA, noting that it has enhanced inclusiveness and grassroots development.
Giving an overviewof the project, the Director-General of the Joint Project Development Agency, Dr Mahmud Yusuf, disclosed that the Billiri West LCDA Secretariat is the 10th such project initiated by the administration, alongside other infrastructure including roads, bridges, and markets.
Speaking on behalf of the benefiting community, former Deputy Governor of the state, Hon. Charles Iliya, expressed appreciation for the unprecedented development in the area, pledging continued support for the administration.
Earlier at the palace of the Mai Tangale, the governor reiterated that the ongoing statewide project tour was aimed at consolidating gains recorded across sectors.
He noted that at least two functional healthcare facilities have been established or revitalised in each political ward, while reaffirming agriculture and security as critical pillars of his administration.
Responding, the Mai Tangale, HRH Malam Danladi-Sanusi Maiyamba, commended the Governor for promoting peace and executing impactful projects, assuring continued support from the traditional institution.
