The Command said the enforcement of the directive will resume on Friday, April 3, 2026, following a comprehensive review of the security situation in collaboration with other security agencies and key stakeholders.

Speaking on the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, in a statement said the decision was reached after “intensive deliberations and careful assessment of prevailing security concerns.”

According to him, “it was unanimously resolved to maintain the existing restrictions on the use of motorcycles between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. within the Gombe metropolis.”

He explained that the measure is aimed at curbing criminal activities often perpetrated using motorcycles.

“These measures are aimed at preventing the use of motorcycles for criminal activities across the state,” Abdullahi stated.

The police spokesperson appreciated the cooperation of residents and urged continued compliance with the directive in the interest of public safety.

“The Command appreciates the cooperation and understanding of law-abiding citizens and urges all residents to comply with the directive for the sake of public safety and security,” he said.

He also called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

Abdullahi reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, noting that further updates would be communicated as the situation evolves.
