The Taraba State Police Command on Saturday said it had tracked and arrested suspected killers of three of its officers and a vigilante leader in Tse Kwe, Tor Damisa area of Donga Local Government Area.

In a statement released by the Command’s Acting Public Relations Officer, ASP Victor Mshelizah, the suspects were identified as Suleman Abdullahi, 30, and Idris Kauri, 33, both from Akente Village in Donga LGA.
The Command also disclosed that three service firearms earlier taken from the deceased officers had been recovered from the suspects.
“In a major breakthrough in efforts to ensure a crime-free society in Taraba State, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, CP Morkwap S. Dongshal, psc(+), upon assumption of duty, intensified visibility policing across major towns and highways,” the statement said.
It added that the Commissioner embarked on an on-the-spot assessment of volatile areas and flashpoints in Takum and Donga LGAs.
“During the exercise, the Command successfully tracked and arrested suspects involved in the attack that claimed the lives of three police officers in Donga.
“The suspects include Suleman Abdullahi, 30, and Idris Kauri, 33, both from Akente Village, Donga LGA. The Command has also recovered all three stolen service firearms.
The suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged in court, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices still at large,” the statement added.
The Command further disclosed that it intercepted two other suspects while they were riding an unregistered motorcycle en route to Ganye LGA of Adamawa State.
“In another development, police officers attached to the Zing Divisional Police Headquarters, while conducting stop-and-search operations at Yonko, intercepted two suspects identified as Torme Terzugwe, 39, of Kwande LGA, Benue State, and Job David, 35, of Toungo LGA, Adamawa State.
“The suspects were intercepted while riding an unregistered motorcycle. Upon a thorough search, 304 rounds of live cartridges were recovered from their possession.
Investigation is ongoing,” the statement said.
The Commissioner of Police assured residents of the Command’s readiness to rid the state of criminal elements.
He added that the Command would continue to strengthen collaboration with community leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders to enhance community policing and intelligence gathering.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and useful information.
