The House of Representatives Minority Whip and member representing Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency, Hon. Ali J.C., has indicated a possible defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing ongoing internal challenges within his current party.

Hon. Ali disclosed this on Tuesday while speaking with journalists after a visit to Governor Muhammadu Yahaya at the Government House, Gombe.
The lawmaker explained that his visit formed part of ongoing consultations with political stakeholders in his constituency, noting that discussions around his political future were still in progress.
“We came to appreciate His Excellency because governance is not a one-man affair. There is a need for collaboration, and the Governor has been supportive of our legislative efforts at the National Assembly,” he said.
He added that although consultations were ongoing, no final decision had been reached regarding his defection.
“We are discussing political issues, including the situation in our party. At the appropriate time, we will make our position known,” he stated.
Hon. Ali also highlighted his legislative contributions, particularly the establishment of an orthopaedic hospital, a bill he sponsored at the National Assembly and which has been signed into law by President Bola Tinubu.
According to him, the Gombe State Government has already provided a permanent site for the facility, which is expected to serve not only Balanga and Billiri constituencies but the entire state and neighbouring regions.
“We are still consulting widely. Once we conclude, we will make our position public,” the lawmaker added.
