The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has officially unveiled Dr. Jamilu-Isiyaku Gwamna as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general election, following what party leaders described as wide-ranging consultations among stakeholders.

The decision was reached during an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting presided over by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who is also the party leader in the state.
Addressing party members at the meeting, Governor Yahaya said the emergence of Gwamna reflected unity within the APC and a shared commitment to sustaining the administration’s achievements.
“This decision is a product of broad-based consultations and agreement among key stakeholders across the state,” Yahaya said. “It demonstrates our unity of purpose and collective resolve to consolidate on the gains we have recorded over the years.”
He described Gwamna as a capable and experienced figure with the political strength required to lead the party to victory in 2027.
“Dr. Jamilu Gwamna is a seasoned politician and accomplished technocrat with deep grassroots appeal. He has the capacity, credibility, and reach to secure victory for our party,” the governor added.
In his acceptance remarks, Gwamna expressed appreciation to the party leadership and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to build on the foundation laid by the current administration.
“I am deeply honoured by this endorsement and the trust placed in me,” Gwamna said. “I assure you of my commitment to sustaining the developmental strides of this administration and taking Gombe State to greater heights.”
The meeting also ratified consensus candidates for the state’s three senatorial districts, six House of Representatives seats, and all 24 State House of Assembly constituencies.
Among the senatorial candidates include the incumbent governor who was selected as candidate of Gombe North, Retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Deba for Gombe Central and Jerry Damara, for Gombe South.
