Former House of Representatives member for Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency, Hon. Danjuma Shiddi (Danji SS), on Sunday said rescuing Taraba State from insecurity, neglect, and infrastructural decay inspired his decision to seek the governorship seat.

Hon. Shiddi, who is aspiring to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), stated this while addressing journalists. He said his desire is to restore hope and build a future that favours all citizens of the state.
He pledged to improve security across communities to boost food production and ensure productive innovations through entrepreneurship are prioritised for youth and women development.
“My desire is to rescue Taraba from insecurity, neglect, and infrastructural decay. My decision to contest the governorship under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is to restore hope and build a future that favours all citizens of the state.
“My mission is to secure our communities, revive decaying infrastructure, and uplift our farmers. I want to create an environment where every citizen can afford the basic necessities of life.
“For too long, our people have waited for leadership that turns promises into progress, protects families, and opens doors of opportunity for every man, woman, and child across the state through good governance.
“Our farmers are struggling with poor access to markets, parents struggle daily to feed their families, and insecurity continues to create fear and uncertainty on our highways and farmlands.
“Many rural communities sleep with one eye open due to insecurity, while young people have lost hope in the future of our state. If elected governor in 2027, I will transform Taraba and make it a safe place for all citizens and businesses to thrive,” Shiddi assured.
The governorship aspirant also promised to support traditional institutions and promote youth innovation-based engagement programmes for human capital development.
“I will strengthen community policing, support traditional institutions, and promote youth engagement programmes. My administration will work closely with federal security agencies to protect lives and livelihoods.
“We will invest in improved seedlings and extension services. We will establish agro-processing hubs that will add value to products grown in Taraba. This is to ensure that farmers earn more from their produce,” he added.
Shiddi further stated that his administration would prioritise youth employment through apprenticeship programmes, support for small businesses, microcredit schemes, and vocational training.
“My administration will partner with private sector investors to create jobs in agriculture, tourism, and renewable energy.
“My target in agriculture and healthcare reforms is to ensure that Taraba becomes a leading centre for food production and quality healthcare management,” he explained.
He urged citizens to support his ambition irrespective of party affiliation, ethnic background, or religion, in the interest of the state’s development.
