A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Okedara Kolawole, on Wednesday called on the National Chairman of the party to urgently intervene in the controversy surrounding the recently concluded primary elections in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.

In an open letter addressed to the APC National Chairman, which was made available to our correspondent, Kolawole alleged that the Lagos State chapter of the party was attempting to undermine the outcome of the primaries despite what he described as a peaceful and transparent exercise.
Kolawole signed the letter as National Chairman of the Movement For Greater Nigeria, National Vice Chairman of the Consolidated APC Grassroots Movement (CaGRam) Southwest, and National Coordinator of the Yoruba Arts and Cultural Tradition Group.
According to him, Hon. Ganiyu Ayuba emerged victorious in the election, a process he said was monitored and witnessed by party members and observers.
“I monitored, voted and observed the process to be peaceful, with Honorable Ganiyu Adele Ayuba emerging victorious, supported by video and pictorial evidence,” Kolawole stated.
He, however, accused the Lagos State APC leadership of acting contrary to the directives earlier issued by the national leadership of the party.
“The Lagos State chairman and some elements within the Lagos chapter are attempting to disrupt the process and cause unrest in Lagos and our community,” he alleged.
Kolawole referenced the appearance of the APC National Chairman on Channels Television’s Politics Today on May 24, 2026, where assurances were reportedly given that only the appropriate national organ of the party had the authority to declare final results of the primaries.
“You stated that only the appropriate National Directorate of the Party is empowered to make valid and binding declarations of the outcomes of the primaries,” he wrote.
He expressed concern over what he described as the circulation of unofficial and speculative results in sections of the media, warning that such actions could inflame tensions among party supporters.
“The premature dissemination of unofficial results creates confusion, breeds distrust and heightens the risk of avoidable conflict among supporters of aspirants,” Kolawole said.
He further argued that petitions and appeals arising from the primaries were yet to be fully resolved by the National Working Committee (NWC), stressing that any attempt to impose outcomes before due process would damage the credibility of the party.
“Any attempt to treat unverified or unofficial publications as final outcomes before the exhaustion of the Party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms would not only be procedurally flawed but could also erode confidence in the Party’s commitment to fairness and justice,” he added.
The APC stakeholder urged the party leadership to expedite the hearing of all pending petitions and publicly reaffirm that only the national leadership could announce authentic results.
He also called for an official clarification on the status of the primary election process to discourage reliance on speculative media reports.
“The strength of our Party lies not only in its electoral victories but in the credibility of its internal processes,” he stated.
Kolawole appealed to the National Working Committee to act swiftly “to forestall avoidable unrest, preserve party unity and protect the integrity of the APC ahead of the forthcoming general elections.”
The letter was copied to President Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, and other party stakeholders.
