Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed optimism that the African Democratic Congress will emerge victorious in the 2027 general elections, describing the large turnout at the party’s presidential primary in Yola as a sign of growing public confidence in the ADC.

Atiku spoke on Monday shortly after casting his vote at his Ajiya Ward polling unit in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
He commended party members and supporters for participating peacefully in the exercise, saying the turnout reflected Nigerians’ commitment to democratic governance.
“I am impressed with the large turnout. It shows that the people have embraced democracy and that democracy has come to stay,” he said.
The former Vice President also dismissed claims surrounding the over 10 million votes reportedly secured by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the APC presidential primaries, insisting that the figures posed no threat to the ADC ahead of the 2027 polls.
“People sat somewhere and manufactured the figures. The number recorded by President Tinubu is not a threat to the African Democratic Congress,” Atiku stated.
Reacting to concerns over internal disagreements within the ADC, the former presidential candidate said crises were not unusual in political parties and would not affect the party’s chances in the next election.
According to him, Nigerians are yearning for a new direction capable of addressing the country’s political, economic, social and security challenges.
He urged citizens to support the ADC in the 2027 general elections and ensure that their votes count.
