The Head of Civil Service of Bauchi State, Barrister Muhammad Umar, has paid a courtesy visit to his Gombe State counterpart, Professor Mu’azu Shehu, to congratulate him on his recent appointment and strengthen collaboration between the two neighbouring states in public service administration.

The high-powered delegation from Bauchi State was received at the Office of the Head of Civil Service in Gombe.

Speaking during the visit, Barrister Umar described the appointment of Professor Shehu as well-deserved, citing his experience, dedication, and contributions to the development of the civil service.
According to a statement issued by the Information Officer in the Office of the Head of Civil Service, Jibrin, the Bauchi State Head of Civil Service highlighted reforms introduced in the Bauchi civil service, particularly in the area of digital transformation.
He said Bauchi State had recorded significant progress in modernising administrative processes through the introduction of an online recruitment system aimed at promoting transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in employment procedures.
Barrister Umar noted that the visit also provided an avenue for both states to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore areas of mutual cooperation to improve service delivery.
He stressed the importance of collaboration among states in addressing common administrative challenges and promoting best practices in governance.
Responding, Professor Mu’azu Shehu, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of unity and shared commitment towards advancing the civil service in the region.
He commended the Bauchi State Civil Service for its achievements in digitalisation and administrative reforms, adding that Gombe State was ready to strengthen partnership and institutional cooperation with Bauchi State.
Professor Shehu stated that continuous knowledge sharing and collaboration among states were necessary for building a responsive, innovative, and efficient civil service system.
The meeting also featured discussions on capacity building, manpower development, and the adoption of technology-driven solutions in governance.
Officials who attended the meeting included Permanent Secretaries overseeing Establishment and Service Matters from both states, Directors of Administration and Finance, Directors of General Administration and Establishment, Directors of Manpower Development, and other senior civil servants.
The visit ended with renewed commitments by both states to sustain engagements and deepen collaboration aimed at improving public service delivery.
