The Bauchi State Project Implementation Unit (PIU) of the World Bank-assisted Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons and Host Communities (SOLID) Project has undertaken a three-day technical study visit to Yobe State aimed at strengthening implementation preparedness under the intervention programme.

The delegation, led by the Bauchi State SOLID Project Coordinator, Dr. Abdulsamad Abubakar, was received by the Yobe State PIU management team headed by the State Coordinator, Suleiman Dauda.
Dr. Abubakar explained that the visit was designed to enable Bauchi State learn from Yobe’s implementation experience, particularly in fiduciary management, safeguards compliance, monitoring and evaluation, grievance redress mechanisms, community engagement, and coordination with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
He added that the visit would also help Bauchi identify practical lessons and operational strategies that could accelerate implementation as a Tier-2 participating state under the SOLID Project.
During the engagement, the Yobe SOLID team presented milestones achieved in policy and institutional readiness, procurement planning, stakeholder engagement, safeguards compliance, and inter-ministerial coordination. The sessions also featured technical presentations and experience-sharing discussions on project governance structures, staffing arrangements, livelihood programming, service delivery in humanitarian settings, and collaboration with durable solutions partners.
Speaking at the end of the visit, the Yobe State SOLID Project Coordinator, Suleiman Dauda, emphasized the importance of peer learning and inter-state collaboration in strengthening implementation capacity across participating states. He reaffirmed Yobe State’s commitment to supporting knowledge exchange initiatives that would promote effective project delivery, compliance, and sustainability.
In his remarks, Dr. Abdulsamad Abubakar congratulated Yobe State for the progress recorded in implementation preparedness and institutional coordination, describing the visit as timely and beneficial to Bauchi State’s readiness efforts. He also commended the Yobe State SOLID Project Implementation team for the warm reception accorded the visiting Bauchi State team.
The visit also featured a courtesy call on the Acting Secretary to the Yobe State Government, Dr. Mohammed Goje, who commended both teams for fostering collaboration and reaffirmed the Yobe State Government’s commitment to supporting the successful implementation of the SOLID Project and other durable solutions initiatives for internally displaced persons and host communities.
