Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident that occurred at New Mile 3 in Gombe, involving a trailer loaded with bags of grains, which claimed lives and left several persons injured.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General of Press Affairs, Government House Gombe, the governor described the incident as heartbreaking and unfortunate, especially with reports confirming the death of a police officer and other victims, alongside the destruction of public property and goods.

Governor Yahaya extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased.
He also sympathised with those who sustained injuries in the crash, praying for their speedy recovery.
The governor commended the swift intervention of security personnel, emergency responders and relevant agencies currently handling rescue operations and assessments at the scene of the incident.
While urging motorists, particularly drivers of heavy-duty vehicles, to strictly comply with traffic regulations and safety measures, he stressed the need for responsible driving to prevent avoidable road tragedies.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya further assured residents that his administration would continue to support initiatives aimed at protecting lives and enhancing road safety across the state.
Meanwhile, reports indicated that two people including a female police constable lost her life in the accident, while two other persons sustained varying degrees of injuries according to a police report.
