The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that it may close the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms for aspirants seeking elective positions in the 2027 elections today.
In a statement released by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Aaron Artimas, the party also disclosed that the submission of completed forms will close tomorrow.
The statement, issued on behalf of the State Working Committee, added that the payment of administrative charges remains compulsory for aspirants contesting National Assembly and governorship positions.
According to the statement, House of Representatives aspirants are to pay three million naira, Senate aspirants five million naira, and governorship aspirants ten million naira. It urged all aspirants to comply as part of the qualification requirements.
The APC also directed all aspirants to make ten photocopies each of their “Expression of Interest” and “Nomination Forms,” place the copies in ten envelopes along with the required supporting documents.
“This is to inform all aspirants that they are to make ten photocopies each of the ‘Expression of Interest’ and ‘Nomination Forms.’ They are to place the copies in ten envelopes, together with their attached documents. The original copies of the forms are to be placed in a separate envelope, making a total of eleven envelopes.
“Aspirants are to write their names and constituencies on the envelopes and wrap them together.
“After completing this process, they are to wait for further instructions on whether to submit them to the National Secretariat or retain them at the State Office,” the statement read.
The statement also described a report by Daily Trust on the alleged endorsement of Governor Agbu Kefas as hasty and premature.
It stated that formal endorsement may come later at a more appropriate time, after issues concerning other candidates have been amicably resolved, noting that although there appears to be growing support among party leaders, Governor Kefas is more concerned with ensuring a peaceful and consensus-driven process for selecting and endorsing candidates.
