The Management of the Federal Medical Centre Jalingo has denied allegations that subscribers’ wallet funds have been trapped at the hospital.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the management explained that since the suspension of the wallet platform by the Federal Government in January 2026, the hospital has continued to refund subscribers who presented themselves for verification and repayment of outstanding balances.
The management called on individuals who believe they still have outstanding funds in their wallet accounts to visit the ICT Department of the hospital for verification and processing of refunds.
“No subscriber’s funds have been deliberately withheld or trapped by the hospital. Since the suspension of the wallet platform, the hospital has continued to refund subscribers who presented themselves for verification and repayment of outstanding balances.
“The wallet payment service was introduced by the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, in April 2025 as part of ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency, ease payment processes, reduce congestion, and eliminate the challenges associated with long queues experienced by patients and their relatives while making payments for medical services within the hospital.
“However, in January 2026, the Federal Government issued a directive suspending wallet services across relevant institutions. In compliance with this directive, the hospital immediately commenced processes towards the suspension of the service.
“It has, however, come to the notice of Management that some customers who may not have been adequately aware of the suspension continued to fund their wallet accounts after the directive had taken effect.
“The Management wishes to categorically state that no subscriber’s funds have been deliberately withheld or trapped by the hospital. Since the suspension of the wallet platform, the hospital has continued to refund subscribers who presented themselves for verification and repayment of outstanding balances.
“Accordingly, any individual who genuinely believes that he or she still has funds outstanding in the wallet account is kindly advised to visit the ICT Department of the hospital for necessary verification and processing of refunds where applicable.
“The Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo remains fully committed to the principles of transparency, accountability, and responsible service delivery. The Management assures the general public that all genuine claims will be treated with utmost diligence and fairness,” the statement said.
The hospital management commended the understanding, patience, and continued support of members of the public and reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality healthcare services to the people.
