The management of the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Gombe, on Friday appealed to members of the public to help identify the body of an unidentified man who died following a road traffic accident in Gombe State.
In a public notice signed by the hospital’s management, the deceased was described as a male believed to be about 35 years old, with an approximate height of 155.4 centimetres and distinctive horizontal marks on both upper cheeks, suspected to be tribal marks.
According to the notice, the victim was involved in a pedestrian road traffic accident that occurred in the GRA area of Gombe. He was admitted to the hospital on Friday, May 15, 2026, but later died on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
“The body of an unidentified victim of a road traffic accident is currently at the mortuary of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe,” the management stated.
The hospital urged anyone searching for missing relatives or acquaintances who may fit the description to visit the facility for identification.
“Members of the public searching for relatives or acquaintances who went missing around the period of the incident are encouraged to visit the hospital for identification within fourteen days,” the statement said.
The management warned that failure to claim the remains within the stipulated period would compel the hospital to act in accordance with the law.
“Please note that if unclaimed after the stipulated period, the hospital shall dispose of the remains according to law,” the notice added.
The deceased, whose hospital number is 752547, had no visible scars or tattoos apart from the facial marks mentioned in the notice.
