The Joint Peace Committee of the Tiv and Fulani communities in the southern part of Taraba State on Wednesday arrested three suspected grave vandals in the Tse-Akanyi area of Takum Local Government Area.

The Chairman of the Peace Committee, Mr. Joe Hime, told journalists that the suspects, who are from both the Fulani and Mbaazorov communities, also vandalised a church building in the area.

According to Hime, the vandals were removing iron rods used in the construction of graves, while several graves have been discovered to have been vandalised.

The chairman, while expressing the committee’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the area, assured residents that it would continue to work towards peace, unity and collaboration among all people, regardless of ethnic or religious differences.

He further disclosed that the suspects had been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
