The Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, has commissioned a newly constructed modern Divisional Police Headquarters and four-man rank-and-file quarters located along Emir’s Palace Drive in Tudun Wada Area of the Gombe metropolis.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Dr.Jatau expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Police Affairs, the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), and other stakeholders for facilitating the project and noted that the facility would enhance policing services and strengthen efforts toward effective security management in the state.

The Deputy Governor described the project as a reflection of modern policing, highlighting the digital infrastructure embedded in the facility, which he said would ease and improve intelligence gathering, operational efficiency, and response to security challenges.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to safeguarding lives and property, stressing that security remains a prerequisite for sustainable development.
According to him, the state’s inclusive approach to governance, involving traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders, has contributed significantly to the prevailing peace and stability in Gombe.

Dr.Jatau noted that Gombe continues to rank among the safest states in Northern Nigeria, attributing the achievement to strong collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, and members of the public.

“Security is too important to be left in the hands of a particular segment of the society. It is a collective responsibility, and every resident must contribute towards creating a secure environment,” he said.

The Deputy Governor also emphasised the importance of continuous training for officers who will operate the equipment provided in the facility, emphasising that investments in modern technology can only yield maximum benefits when personnel possess the requisite skills to handle them effectively.

He urged officers and members of the host community to take ownership of the facility by ensuring its proper maintenance, lamenting the poor and careless habits of maintenance culture of public infrastructure among officers and challenged security personnel to regard government property as a public trust deserving of protection and preservation.

Dr. Jatau further called for improved welfare and logistics support for police personnel, noting that motivated officers are more likely to deliver optimal performance,if provided with adequate incentive.

Dr Jatau also stressed the need for sustained efforts to improve the image of the Nigeria Police Force through professionalism, integrity, and respect.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Police,Gombe State Comand, CP Ahmad Umar Chuso represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Bashir Mustapha, said the modern divisional headquarters would boost the morale of officers and enhance their capacity to discharge their responsibilities effectively.

CP Chuso commended the cordial relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and the Gombe State Government as well as other related security agencies in maintaining peace and security across the state.

In their seperate remarks , Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund,(NPTF) Mohammed Sheidu, said the project forms part of the Federal Government’s broader agenda to modernise policing infrastructure and improve the operational capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force nationwide. He explained that the Trust Fund remains committed to providing state of the earth facilities and equipment that will enable officers to tackle emerging security threats more efficiently.

In the same vein, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Backbone Limited, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, described the project as a strategic partnership between the Nigeria Police Trust Fund and Galaxy Backbone limited aimed at deepening the deployment of technology in policing.

He said the facility has been equipped with state-of-the-art digital tools and communication infrastructure that will strengthen intelligence-driven policing and support real-time information sharing among security agencies.

Prof. Adeyanju added that Galaxy Backbone would continue to support capacity-building initiatives to ensure officers are adequately trained in the use of digital technologies, adding, the integration of modern ICT solutions into security operations is essential for combating contemporary crimes and enhancing public safety.

Both officials noted that security remains the bedrock of development and expressed optimism that the model facility would be replicated across other states of the federation as part of ongoing efforts to transform policing in Nigeria under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative.

In a welcome address, the Overseer of the Gombe Local Government Council, Hajiya Rukaiyya Muhammad Sadiq, assured the police authorities that residents of the area would regard the facility as their own and support officers in carrying out their responsibilities.

She also commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for sustaining peace and security in the state, which she said has continued to attract investors and visitors to Gombe.

Prior to the commissioning, the visiting team of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund and Galaxy Backbone Limited paid a courtesy call to the Deputy Governor, during which they commended the Gombe State Government for its sustained support to security agencies and its commitment to maintaining peace and stability across the state.

Among participants at the, event were the Permanent Secretaries, heads of security agencies and MDAs, traditional and religious leaders, and the Senior Special Assistant on security matters and Intergovernmental Affairs to the Governor, Ambassador Yusuf Musa Danbayo among others.
