A philanthropist, Chief David Sabo Kente, on Thursday announced plans to establish an endowment fund in the Faculties of Mass Communication at the Federal University Wukari and Taraba State University, Jalingo, in honour of the late veteran journalist, Elder Chief Ben Adaji.

Chief Kente made the declaration at the burial ceremony of the late Chief Adaji in Imani, Olomaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to the former Taraba State governorship aspirant, the endowment fund is part of efforts to immortalise the late journalist and will provide annual support to students studying Mass Communication in the two universities.

He also pledged continued support for the immediate family of the late Chief Adaji to ensure they do not face undue hardship following his passing.

Meanwhile, Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas described the late Adaji as a great loss to the journalism profession and prayed for God to comfort members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the bereaved family.

The governor, who was represented by the Chairman of the NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel in Taraba State, Dr. Gabriel Yough, encouraged the family and the people of Imani community to take solace in God, who gives and takes away.

Our correspondent reports that the late Chief Ben Adaji died at the age of 67 after over 30 years of active journalism practice. He is survived by two wives, children, and other family members.
