Adams Oshiomhole said Peter Obi got “massive votes in 2023 due to public anger.” He was not wrong. People were angry at ASUU strikes, insecurity, fuel queues, and a government that felt distant. That anger walked to the polls.
But Oshiomhole missed the next chapter.
In 2023 it was public anger. Loud. On Twitter. On the streets. On TV. You could see it, manage it, and campaign against it.
In 2025-2026, we now have private anger. Quiet. At kitchen tables. In marketplaces. In salary alerts.
Public anger protests. Private anger calculates. Public anger shouts “Obi!” Private anger asks, “Can I feed my family this month?”
Public anger wants change. Private anger wants survival. And survival votes are the most dangerous for any government, because they don’t need rallies to mobilize. They just need a reason not to renew your contract.
If APC struggled with public anger when the economy was better, what happens with private anger when rent, food, and school fees have doubled?
You can debate Obi. You can attack him. But you cannot debate an empty pot.
