Here is the breakdown: Edo South 4 for 7 LGAs. Edo Central 11 for 5 LGAs. Edo North 5 for 6 LGAs.
Do the math and you will see the problem.
During Obaseki, it was one per LGA. During Oshiomhole, it was one per LGA. A clear, defensible formula. Now the formula is politics.
Edo Central with 5 LGAs gets 11. Edo South with 7 LGAs gets 4. That is not equity. That is reward and punishment dressed as appointment.
Civil service is supposed to be the backbone of government, not the spoils of war. When appointments skew this badly, what message do we send to young officers in Iguobazuwa, in Irrua, in Auchi? That your promotion depends less on merit and more on your senator’s access?
And yes, I heard about the Benin commissioner sacked last night. “E nor concern me,” some will say. But it should.
Because if Edo South leaders keep clapping while their region is shortchanged, tomorrow there will be nothing left to defend.
Governance is not just about filling offices. It is about filling them fairly.
