“True greatness, true leadership, is found in giving yourself in service to others, not in coaxing or inducing others to serve you.” – Oswald Sanders
Surugede is a dance of the spirit, is the Church in the Spirit? Because when the altar moves to the market, and dancers appeared unclothed, we must ask: what gospel are we preaching?
The viral video of Christ Chosen Church of God International members dancing naked in a public market is not “freedom in the Spirit.” It is desecration. The body of Christ is called to be a temple, not a spectacle. The market is for trade. The church is for truth. To conflate both, and to do it with nakedness, is to hand the world a reason to mock what Christ died for.
This imbroglio cannot be separated from the untimely retirement of Apostle Pius Igberase. A man who carried discipline, doctrine, and order is now absent, and in the vacuum we see confusion. Leadership matters. When the shepherd is hurriedly sent away, the sheep scatter. When oversight is weak, expression becomes excess.
We are not called to shame people. We are called to correct in love. But correction must start with this: holiness is not negotiable. Witness is not about trending. It is about reflecting Christ.
The church must repent, restore order, and remember. We are the body of Christ. Let us not dance it into disgrace.
