President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 persons into the boards and management of 10 federal government agencies and commissions, naming former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The appointments, announced on Monday in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, take immediate effect.
Fayose will chair the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as non-executive directors, while the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors complete the board.
President Tinubu also appointed retired Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission, with eight other members joining the commission.
Former member of the House of Representatives, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the commission, while Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo) and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna) were appointed commissioners.
Other members of the commission are Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
The President also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju from his position as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
In other appointments, Dr Abuh Mohammed was named Director-General of the National Population Commission, while Dr Akinola Odeyemi was appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET).
Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin emerged as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, while Engineer Julius Oloro was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing the late Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
President Tinubu also approved the constitution of the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman.
Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was earlier reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund.
Similarly, Gisaor Vincent Iorja was appointed Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority, succeeding Mathias Byuan, who resigned to pursue the Benue State governorship.
According to the Presidency, all the appointments take effect immediately.
