As campaigns for the 2027 elections begin, the Spokesperson of Ademola Adeleke Governorship Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi on Wednesday said he would repeat the feat achieved in the Osun State election by defeating a 6th term membership of the House of Representatives, Oluwole Oke.

He was basking in the euphoria of the last election in which he defeated Oke of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with a difference of 2,383 votes.

Olajengbesi, the candidate of the Accord Party in next year’s election is seeking to unseat Oke representing Oriade/Obokun federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

The legal practitioner and activist in a statement in Abuja vowed that Oke would not return to the Green Chamber in 2027.

He said, “I defeated Oluwole Oke in the Osun State governorship election. In Oriade, Accord got 21,343 votes, while APC had 14,863. In Obokun, Accord had 12,023, while APC scored 16,120. The total votes for Accord was 33,366 while APC had 30,983, defeating him with 2,383 votes margin. The LGA figures also matches the published Osun governorship results released by INEC.

“My ambition rests on several strategic arguments, shifting political dynamics, and grassroots narratives. I’m a necessary intervention against political monopoly. Wole Oke has held the Green Chamber seat since 2003. A 24-year continuous recycling of leadership has stagnant ideas and stifled the growth of our constituency.

“About a quarter-century in office by a single individual is undemocratic, Obokun/Oriade constituency deserves fresh representation. Oke had previously pleaded with me and other constituency leaders to allow him to run a final time, promising to back me in 2027. He betrayed us and reneged on the agreement. This is the height of greed. In 2027, I will not surrender to him. I am a child of necessity.”
