Osun2026 has come and gone, but the questions remain. When Governors begin to behave like “bulls in a china shop” then one begins to wonder if we are in “motor-park.”
When sixteen governors, a Senate President, Abuja jets and Abuja money landed in Osun, the message was clear: “Fall in line” or “all is fair in politics.” When PVCs spoke anyway, the story became David vs Goliath again.
Now we must talk about the Presidency and INEC.
To the Presidency: Exonerate the President, but reform the office. The Presidency must not become a campaign bus for state elections. Federal might should not be used to intimidate voters or announce winners before votes are counted. That is not federalism. That is overreach. Nigerians are watching.
To INEC: Thank you for letting PVCs speak in Osun. But one good election does not erase doubt. The matter arising is trust. BVAS must work everywhere, not just where cameras are. Result sheets must upload in real time. Collation officers must be protected. Ad-hoc staff must be paid on time.
Osun2026 taught us two things. First, when paraphernalia meets conviction, conviction can win. Second, the people will guard the vote if institutions allow them.
Edo2024 taught us to guard the vote. Osun2026 taught us to guard the will.
Next is 2027. Presidency, get off the field. INEC, be neutral. Politicians, go home and win your states.
Nigeria deserves elections, not selections.
