The Senator representing Taraba South Senatorial District, David Jimkuta, has denied allegations that he diverted N500 million meant for women empowerment in the district, describing the claim as baseless and false.
The allegation was made by the Peoples Democratic Party senatorial candidate, Dr Jessy Adi Ashimate, who accused Jimkuta of diverting N500 million allegedly earmarked for women empowerment in Taraba South.
However, Jimkuta, through his Campaign Director, Hon. Garleya Gambo Suntai, insisted that the senator had never received such funds for women empowerment.
Suntai, in a statement, urged the people of Taraba South and the general public to disregard the allegation, saying it was not supported by evidence.
He said, “Everyone in the Southern Senatorial District of Taraba was expecting the PDP candidate to come out with proof of his allegations, but he is rather making empty allegations without substance.
“We expected him to tell the people where the N500 million came from, when the money was released and his source of information.
“We believe that the constituents would not be deceived by cheap allegations against a senator who has positively impacted the lives of the people.
“What is N500 million to Senator Jimkuta when he is giving out empowerment worth over N3 billion?” the campaign director queried.
Suntai further disclosed that Jimkuta would undertake another batch of empowerment programmes in the coming weeks, which he said was expected to be the largest carried out by the senator since assuming office.
