Gombe state governor Alh. Inuwa Yahaya, has indicated interest to make life comfortable for state government former workers.
The governor who was represented by the secretary of the state government Prof. Abubakar Njodi, stated this on Friday at the commencement of the payment of arrears of gratuity at the Treasury house, Gombe state.
He said arrangements have been completed for hitch free exercise noting that, the payment would be a continuous one commencing with those that retired in 2014.
“In the effort of Governor Inuwa Yahaya, to ensure that workers who served the State and retired enjoy comfortable life has directed the payment of arrears of gratuity to the retired civil servant in the state.
“It will be recall that, the Governor inherited a backlog of arrears of the of over ten billion naira for state and Local government retirees from the previous administration of Ibrahim Dankwambo.
“As a responsible government, the present administration deemed it necessary to come to the flight of the retirees within the shortest possible time” he added
.
The governor used the ceremony to condole with the next of kin of some deceased beneficiaries saying that”it is the wish of every retired worker to collect his entitlement after a tremendous service however,many have waited but, could not see this day. our heart felt condolences to those families” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the committee and the state auditor General Alh. Mohammed Gombe, noted that the committee has made proper arrangements for the successful exercise.
Highlight of the ceremony was presentation of payment by Prof. Njodi, as beneficiaries were full of joy and commendation to the Governor.
