Gombe state Governor Inuwa Yahaya, has announced that his administration will establish Bureau of Public Service Reform
in the state to foster efficiency and enhance quality and result-oriented service.
The Governor made this known when he played host to a delegation from the Bureau of Public service Reforms led by its Director General, Dasuki Arabi, at the Government House on Wednesday.
Governor Yahaya also underscored the importance of reform in the overall growth and development of every human endeavor, said his administration has since keyed into the federal Government’s reform programmes and such will be cascaded to the local government level.
He said an executive order has already been issued by his administration for the establishment of the Bureau in the state and will be headed by a seasoned technocrat.
“With the state currently battling with paucity of funds, it is imperative to initiate reforms that will entrench prudence, accountability and transparency in governance”.
Governor Yahaya assured his guest that his administration will partner BPSR to ensure smooth take off of the bureau in the state.
The Director General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dasuki Arabi, had earlier told the Governor that his agency was established to facilitate the building of Nigeria’s public service into a highly functional, professional, customer focused and results oriented institution.
“Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS and Treasury Single Account, TSA are among numerous reforms brought by government and have since proven beneficial to the federal and some states that have keyed into it”.
While praising governor Yahaya for his dynamic style of leadership and disposition towards change and reforms, the Director General assured that Gombe state stands to gain a lot with a bureau of public service reform in place, assuring of his agency’s support to facilitate smooth take off of BPSR in the state.
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of the latest version of the National Strategy for Public Service Reforms among other relevant publications to the Governor by the Director General.
