A Sixty two years old man, Abdulrahaman Ibrahim has been arrested by the Gombe state police command for stealing motor bikes popularly known as ‘achaba’.
Ibrahim in collaboration with some youths were allegedly involved in reselling stolen motorcycles to unsuspecting buyers away from the metropolis.
Confirming the arrest on Tuesday, Gombe state Police Public Relations Officer, Sp Mary Malum said the arrest was based on credible intelligence, by personnel of the State Intelligent Bureau of the Command.
Malum added that the syndicate engaged in forcefully disposessing members of the public their motorcycles.
She said, “The SIB arrested Adamu Aliyu aged 62 years, Abdulrahaman Ibrahim age 26 years both male of Kwadon town, Yemaltu-Deba LGA, Gombe State and Usman Mohammed Gidado age 24 years, Mohammed Sale age 22 years and Mohammed Abbas age 18 years all male of Bomala quarters, Gombe LGA, Gombe State.
“They were arrested in connection to a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Theft and Receiving Stolen Properties. Suspects confessed to have belonged to a syndicate that specializes in stealing motorcycles by using force to either destroy the motorcycles locks or the use of master keys, and take same to their receivers at Kwadon town for disposal.
“Exhibits recovered from them includes; One Royal Motorcycle black in colour without Registration number, One Bajaj Motorcycle red in colour with Reg. No. YAB 712 QA.”
