Gombe state government has announced the dissolution of Taskforce on Covid-19.
Revealing the latest development, the commissioner for health Dr. Ahmed Gana on Monday said the state deputy governor Dr Manassah Jatau, will superintend the new committee.
Gana stated this while briefing newsmen, after the state executive council meeting in the state.
He said the state is moving from adhoc committee to containment of covid-19 which is system based approach of tackling coronavirus.
Periscope Nigeria Recalls that, the dissolved taskforce on Covid-19 was led by Prof Idris Mohammed, a professor of Immunology now to be led by a Social scientist.
The commissioner explained that, ” I’m sure you know that the taskforce is gone, the governor has given a directive that the taskforce has seized to exist and a new committee will be set under the leadership of the deputy governor.
“The deputy governor, is overseeing the entire response for covid-19, which is moving to a more system based approach. The incident management structure is being strengthened with support from federal ministry of health,federal government taskforce and the world bank.
“We have moved from the short term containment and response using the taskforce to a medium term, but the ultimate thing is the long term.”
