Insurgency has caused Humanitarian crisis in North East- Amina Mohammed

Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, on Monday, said Insurgency has caused humanitarian crisis in the North- East region.
Mohammed stated this virtually, during her goodwill message at Agenda for Stakeholder Consultative Engagement meeting for Gombe ten (10) year development plan 2021-2030 in Gombe.
The deputy UN scribe who is of Gombe origin, stressed that development plan helps leaders make informed choices based on scientific data and available resources to deliver on the needs of the people.
According to Mohammed, “I’m very proud Gombe is making it mark on development space by developing this process and people’s agenda. Today the state under the able leadership of governor Inuwa Yahaya has recognized the complex context, difficult challenges but exciting opportunities for the good people of Gombe state.
“United Nations 2030 agenda, for people and planet agreed by all countries of the world including Nigeria. The context of the protracted conflict in the zone has created a humanitarian crisis, which has affected Gombe, it neighbouring states with the influx of displaced persons and Insurgency.
While bemoaning the challenges brought by covid-19, she stressed that strategic planning is the way out.

She said, “The human development progress of the state has been exasperated by the covid-19 pandemic and it threatens to reverse the gains of education, health.”
On his part, Gombe state governor, Inuwa Yahaya said the ten year plan derives its contents from state-wide stakeholders’ consultation.
He said, “spanning all the 114 wards of the State that is aimed at deepening ownership of the development process and promoting greater inclusiveness, transparency and accountability in governance.”
