Kidnap: Gombe police parades three, as others flee
Gombe State police command on Wednesday, paraded a Seven man syndicate kidnap gang, from Adamawa State.
Comprising a corpse, three other members of the gang while the rest fled.
The police has also arrested four rapists who specialise in unlawful carnal knowledge of minor girls.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Maikudi Shehu confirmed the incidents to newsmen at the headquarters.
According to Shehu, the incident occurred in Yelwa village in Akko local government in Gombe between his men and the Kidnappers from Adamawa State, adding that the attack was botched through a combined efforts of vigilante and police officers.
The commissioner said the kidnappers were sponsored by a masked man now in police net.
Also Speaking, the victim, Alhaji Babayo of Shekoji village in Akko local government, recalled that he was sleeping in the field with his cattle when his abductors came.
He said, “I didn’t know when they came because I was fast asleep in the field but the noise of the cattle woke me and when I accosted them, they seized me and demanded N5m for my release.
“Immediately, they asked to join them, we trekked for about four hours and when we got to Yelwa also in Akko, they decided that we sleep.
“It was while they were sleeping that I slipped away and informed the village head who helped to alert the police.”
However, on discovering that their target had escaped, rather than leave the area, they decided to rest around only to be confronted later by the police.
Shehu added that his men were alerted and drafted to the area, “they didn’t waste time in launching aggressive attack during which one of the victims was killed, another one wounded and three arrested though three others escaped,” he said.
Meanwhile, Shehu also paraded a 21-year old rapist, Abdulrasheed Abdullah on Christmas Day, at 6:pm, who allegedly lured and raped a 10-year old Salma Garba.
Another three man rapists forcefully dragged 14-year old Amina Adamu into the bush and allegedly defiled her.
