Chima Azubuike, Gombe
Professor of Law, Attahiru Mamman (SAN), has debunked insinuation that the governing All Progressives Congress will come to an abrupt end after the dispensation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He made this disclosure in Gombe, in an interview with journalists shortly after, All Progressives Congress Constitution review (North East Stakeholders meeting).
Mamman who is the review committee Chairman, agreed that the party thrives on the goodwill of the president, adding that efforts are on to ensure the party is deeply rooted in the grassroots.
He said, “We know so much that APC revolves around our president (Muhammadu Buhari), from inception that is why that is why the president himself is quite concerned and focused on strengthening the party;the structures of the party, it relationship with the masses with the generality of the people so that people can connect with the party in terms of it progressive agenda.
“The concern of the party so that it will not depend on the acceptability of one person. It will be connecting with the masses and that is why party registration is being done at the moment so that it will resonate with the public. So after 2023 there will not not be a disconnect between the public the APC because the process of re-institutionalising the party to the grass roots has begun.”
He added that so far over 12 million had revalidated their membership as efforts are still on to accommodate additional 20 million who had signified interest.
