Binta Bello donates 204 chairs, 204 desks to CBT model centre kaltungo
Chima Azubuike, Gombe
No fewer than 404 chairs and desks (cubicle) were on Friday, unveiled at Kaltungo model CBT centre, by Hon. Fatima Binta Bello, through her foundation Fatima Binta Bello Trust Fund, For Education and Girl Child Upliftment (FBBTFFEGCU).

Speaking at the launch of the furniture, the former deputy minority whip of the House of Representatives said this was based on her desire to ensure that education becomes alot easier for her people.
Bello revealed that she knows the importance of education, so the desire to see that men and women are empowered to do so.
She said, “In my life, I value education and I know what it means to be educated. I want every Nigerian child to be educated at maximum level any child can have can. The centre has been in existence, in the whole of Gombe south we don’t any centre.

“There is one in Filiya, my alma mater, 150 capacity is still lying there when I was leaving National Assembly, I put a structure and supply of computers the building was on going. It was to easy the burden of my people, including some parts of Taraba to write Jamb there but when I left National Assembly, it didn’t come to reality because of the increase in the number of capacity needed by Jamb because they made it 250. But within me I have a conviction of completing the centre and furnishing the 100 capacity left, I intend to make it a reality. The reason for coming here first is because this one has been in existence and it will not be good for people like myself who have been beneficiaries of education to abandon this. They asked my foundation for assistance; this will not only serve Kaltungo but other LGA’s within the zone.”
Recall that recently, the former Representative of Kaltungo/Shongom federal constituency, through her foundation gifted N20,000 scholarship to 540 students from Gombe south amounting to over 10million naira.
She added that education should not be neglected due to the overwhelming advantages in the life of women and youth.
“Education is the best gift any child can have; without education a child is just like a blind person in the society more especially I have a passion for encouraging women to go to school. The reason why I want women to be learned is for them to handle their roles as mothers and train them in a better. Education is the bedrock of a better society. My passion is to ensure community leaders encourage women and youths to learn even if they will not be in government, but for them to acquire education in a formal way,” Bello said.
Speaking earlier, Mark Alfinti, centre administrator, lauded the efforts of the donor highlighting that the centre had been in need of the furniture in order to maintain Jamb accreditation.
He noted that the centre so far had conducted five consecutive Jamb computer based tests, adding that the centre had managed to pull through varying difficulties with the support of the committee and centre staff.
He said, “What we are witnessing today is a rebirth of the centre, the centre is now having standard cubicle desk stipulated by Jamb. One of our major challenges have been put to rest. Hon. Binta Bello has always been on point to the needs of this centre, last time she renovated the building and now this kind gesture.”

Earlier, Bello led a team of delegation to salute the Mai Kaltungo and to sympathise with him over recent abductions within the chiefdom totalling 15.
Receiving the Ex lawmaker, Engr. Saleh Mohammed, appreciated Bello, for the uncommon interest in women, and youths especially as it relates to their empowerment, adding that other politicians should take a queue in her developmental trademarks.
