Gombe commits to development of education

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has said his administration remains committed to transformation of the education sector.
The Governor made this disclosure on Saturday, at the closing ceremony of the 24th Edition of State Qur’an Recitation Competition held in Kaltungo Local Government.
He also requested residents of the State to support the development of Education.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the Governor assured that adequate attention will be accorded both religious and Western Education of the people especially the younger generation.
He however explained that all stakeholders must play their part for the Government to achieve the noble effort of lifting the people out of illiteracy and poverty.
Governor Yahaya commended the Ministry of Education and the organising Committee, Panel of Judges, Scholars and the participants for conducting themselves orderly which according to him brought about the success of the competition.
He Commended Mai Kaltungo, Engr. Saleh Mohammed, for providing support and guidance for a week long competition, to select the State’s representative to 45th National Qur’an Recitation Competition scheduled for the 19th of March 2021 in Kano.
While praying for a Successful outing for the State’s Contingents, Governor Yahaya assured that Government would support such a noble course for the good of the society.
In their good will messages, the Emir of Gombe represented by former Grand Khadi Baba Liman and the Commissioner for Education Dauda Batari Zambuk, appealed to parents to prioritize the Education of their Children as a means to quality livelihood.
On his part, Malam Dawood Abubakar of the Federal University Kashere, who was a guest at the occasion, while speaking on concern of poverty in the society, challenged Muslims Faithful to repent and trust in Allah for solutions in the Qur’an.
Dawood said the level of poverty in Muslim society is worrisome explaining that this can only be addressed when people take both Islamic and western Education serious.
He said, “To reduce poverty among the people there must be social justice in Governance, trust in Allah, fighting Corruption, creating jobs and increase in spending on good course.”
Prizes were presented to outstanding participant including Cars to the Male and Female overall winners , Suleiman Mohammed of Dukku Local Government and Aishatu Kabiru Shuaibu from Akko Local Government respectively.
Highlight of the occasion is the recitation of the Holy Qur’an.
