Gombe Government is set to settle outstanding gratuity of State retirees on Monday, following the release of N775 million by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.
According to the Director of Press Gombe state Government House, Ismaila Misilli, on Sunday, said the payment is another tranche of outstanding gratuity to retired civil servants in the state.
Recall that retired civil servants had in February, blocked the gate leading to the Government House, especially the local government retirees over months of delay in receiving both pension and gratuity.
Misilli said the payment will go a long way to cater for the retirees’ benefits, especially those that served the state government.
He said, “The administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya had inherited liabilities of gratuity arrears of over N14 billion from the past administration which had abandoned the payment of the retirees’ entitlement since 2014. Governor Inuwa had earlier approved the payment of over N1.6 billion for payment of gratuity arrears.
“Sequel to the Governor’s directives, the committee set up by His Excellency to verify and ascertain the correctness of outstanding gratuity owed state retirees has concluded arrangements to commence the payment and therefore requests retired state civil servants from January to December 2015, to come forward for verfication and collection of their entitlements.
“The exercise, according to the Chairman of the committee and State Auditor-General, Muhammad Buba Gombe will hold on15th March 2021. Life retirees are to come along with Audited Computation sheet, Bank Verification Number (BVN), Civil Service Commission (CSC) approval for retirement and Identification Card (I.D Card) while dependants of late retirees are to present letter of Administration (from the probate Registry High Court Justice, Gombe State), death certificate and original computation sheet.”
