Child Spacing: Gombe Focal person tasks media advocates on performance
Chima Azubuike, Gombe
Media Focal Person of DevCom/TCI Gombe State, Alhassan Yahya, has lamented the current performance of some child spacing media advocates.
Yahya made this disclosure on Wednesday, while reviewing activities done since last year’s training at a one day planning and review meeting on child spacing in Gombe State.
He stressed for more to be done, noting that so far only eleven stories were captured in the database

The focal Person further explained that activities did not commence immediately because of the delay in signing agreement with Gombe State Government, adding that has been done and efforts are underway to recover lost ground.
He revealed that there were no Child Spacing consumables in the facilities but government had now provided and service delivery is on going.

Yahya explained that the field trip is similar to what was done during the training last year and members would be assigned to some selected centres with clients and health workers on service delivery.
He added that the round table meeting would afford members opportunity to interact with policy makers and ask questions where necessary.

Also, Rebecca Maina, Coordinator of Child Spacing Media Group, commended members who filed and shared their stories.
She stated that the objective of the meeting was to review progresses and challenges and for members to share their experiences and inputs on how to improve reportage on child spacing.
Maina also urged members to intensify efforts so that alot more would be achieved this quarter, adding that those who had not filed any report should endeavour to do so.
“Let’s brace up to achieve more; so much needs to be done to improve child spacing uptake in Gombe state,” Maina added.
