Group tasks corps members on self reliance in Agric development
By Dakama Margaret Iliya
Committed to ensuring that Corps Members nationwide are fully empowered with relevant skills and other incentives that would reduce graduate unemployment and increase food sufficiency in the country, Management of the National Youth Service Corps has signed a memorandum of understanding with Leventis foundation.

The programme was designed to empower Corps Members with vocational skills that would make them self-reliant and employers of labour after the service year through agriculture.

In Gombe State, about 1400 Corps members were sensitised by the foundation on agricultural training, sustainability of production systems and Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development.

Speaking at the Sensitisation at NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp Amada, Gombe State, representatives of the foundation, Mr Onwukeme Guericke, who is the manager of the centre and Mrs Alice Yusuf, an accountant with the centre, advised the Corps members to take advantage of the opportunity in order to be fully equipped for self-reliance during and after the service year.
