Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Thursday, reiterated the desire of government to provide special protection to five secondary schools.

“Five (5) of those schools are really going to be turned around in order for them to give the accommodation especially with the level of security challenges that has emanated in some other neighbouring states. We need to provide special cover that is double of what we have for us to ensure the safety of our students.
“I want to make sure Gombe places among the 1-10 schools in terms of high quality education in Nigeria that has been my clear objective and we can achieve it.”
Yahaya revealed that the state intends to review the admission capacity of each of the schools to accept a minimum of 3,000 students.
“We intend to make this school to have nothing less than 3,000 students, so you must double up the ministry has to provide all the necessary staffing and the personnel required to give it an effective and functional management,” Yahaya stressed.
While assessing the level of development of Dadinkowa Comprehensive Secondary the governor expressed optimism that alot more would be achieved in education under his watch.
He said, “About a year or so ago I came to this school that followed an article that I read in one of the papers written by one of the correspondent’s specifically that of the Daily Trust that informed the whole world that this is Dadinkowa, the school where students and bats are competing for space meaning the school was abandoned over the years.
“As a result, I took it upon myself and the cabinet to come and inspect and see for ourselves so as to strategize and hasten the situation and improve it. By what I have seen today, it shows we are on cause and the school has changed.”
Also speaking, Principal of Dadinkowa Comprehensive Secondary School Saidu Aliyu, lauded the effort of government in remodeling the institution.
He noted that enrollment had improved following the recent development.
Aliyu said, “When you saw it (the school condition) you made promise that you were going to do something about the school.Today, we are witnessing what you have done.
“If I will not be wrong, I will say you have done it 200 percent. Before this time students were running away from the school today, parents are calling from different places that they want their wards to be enrolled here.”
