DG inaugurates NYSC Covid-19 Vanguard in Gombe
No fewer than 20 corps members have been inaugurated by Director General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim as Covid-19 Vanguard.
Inaugurating the vanguard shortly after the swearing in of 1,176 for batch C stream I at the orientation camp ground in Amada Akko LGA of Gombe, the DG urged them to enlighten their colleagues on Covid-19 protocols.
Represented by Ada Imoni, state coordinator of NYSC, he revealed that two persons were appointed across 10 platoons for the effectiveness of the exercise totalling 20.
Ibrahim said, “At this juncture, I wish to remind you of the need to continue to comply with the Covid-19 prevention protocols throughout the orientation period. In particular, you must ensure physical distancing and wearing of face masks as well as make good use of hand washing facilities provided at strategic locations, amongst other safety measures.”
While reminding them of Federal Government’s decision to sanction those that were yet to receive the vaccine Ibrahim, urged them to comply.
“As you may be aware, the federal government has announced plan to make presentation of evidence of Covid-19 vaccination by civil servants a pre-requisite for gaining entry to public offices from 1st December, 2021.
“I, therefore, encourage those of you, who are yet to take the vaccine, to do so without further delay as the rule could apply to corps members in places of primary assignment. Of greater significance is the fact that the vaccine will keep you safe. We are already in touch with the relevant authorities with a view to ensuring that the vaccines are made available to you in the course of this programme,” Ibrahim said.
