Gombe Fed Horticulture College approves SIWES for 539 ND 1 students
The Provost and Chief Executive of Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin Kowa, Dr. Babawuro Mahmoud Ali has approved the Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme SIWES for 539 ND 1 Students’ of the College.
Speaking on Friday, during management occasion Central SIWES Coordinator of the College Joseph Elisha commended the Provost for his effort in ensuring that students were given the necessary training and support on how to write SIWES reports, adding that it would enable them compete with other students effectively across the country.

According to Elisha, the SIWES orientation has been the first of its kind in the current administration of the Provost since inception of the academic programme in 2005.
The Coordinator explained, “the orientation is meant to expose students to work experience after the theoretical aspect of their studies, they need to acquire working experience after their graduation so that they will be to able to compete effectively with their colleagues in other institutions across the country.”
Elisha further revealed that the essence of the SIWES orientation was because of the previous poor performance of the Students that conceived the idea of the Provost’s approval to organise the orientation programme to enable the students learn how to write SIWES report and daily reports in their Log books.
He added, “ND 1 Students were drawn from various Departments of the College such as Cooperative and Economic Management, Science Laboratory Technology, Agricultural Technology, Horticultural Technology, Fisheries Department and Animal Health Production Technology.
“The Students will be well equipped with practical knowledge of what they are taught in compliance with the guidelines set aside by the Industrial Training (IT) standard.
While urging beneficiaries to give their best during the industrial training he appealed to management for financial support to enhance effective supervision, “of the College Supervisors to avoid our Students from being rejected because of lack of supervision,” he said.
