RAISE KIDS IN PRACTISE NOT IN PRINCIPLES
At a certain public primary school i visited repeatedly recently, my observation in all of the visits made me to conclude that things that cannot happen in public service does not exist.
Though my account is limited to what I noticed in a school but I said public service because such an act will not be permitted in a standard private school.
One of the female teachers in the school has a side hustle of selling snacks and frozen drinks to the pupils during break.
She then moves from class to class after break to sell the remaining snacks and ‘lolly’ to the pupils on credit therefore interrupting the ongoing class.
Teaching primary four pupils how to live above their means Is a condemnable act from a teacher. One of the topics i witnessed the pupils being taught is money management. It is psychological damaging to tell a child a lie they later find out is not true or act in an opposite manner of how you have instructed them.
Sincerity of our relationship with them determines how well they connect with us and accept our values.
Pupils are supposed to have morals, values and sound principles instilled in them in school. But by who? By the same teacher that asked them to buy now on credit and pay tomorrow? It is barbaric and selfish to sell items to children that are dependants on credit.
Defaulters are openly disgraced and deprived of another ‘opportunity’ of buying again while Some others have found loophole in the arrangement and now experts in rolling over debt.
The teacher will need to tell us how she expect them to raise the money they will pay the next day.
Teachers need to be trained and retrained that their job is in practice not in principles.
