2023: Youth group canvasses support for Shina Peller
Youth group under the aegis of Nigerian Youth League (NYL), on Sunday endorsed Oyo State born lawmaker representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajola/Kajola Federal Constituency Shina Peller for the office of the President.
Speaking on behalf of the group in Gombe, National President, Mustapha Aminu said the lawmaker emerged after a rigorous selection process among 19 others, adding that Peller has the required network, track record, appeal and popularity.

According to him, the choice of Peller is rife following the fact that youth groups are more determined than before, stressing that the absence of an incumbent in the contest would present a level playing ground.
Aminu said, “Today we are here to initiate a process that will inadvertently change the lives, and landscape of Nigeria’s politics, come 2023.
“After series of consultations, permutations with various stakeholders across the length and breadth of the country. We came to a conclusion that 2023 is the year for the young people to take over coupled with many factors such as absence of an incumbent president in the race.
“The track record of the president in providing level playing ground and the readiness of young people and their determination to commit themselves to making the country better. We decided that we have come of age, we are determined and this time am glad to inform you that we have a candidate.”
While enumerating the qualities of Peller, Aminu noted that the lawmaker has grasp to the myriad of challenges plaguing the country.
“For the first time in the history of Nigerian democracy all youth stakeholders are rallying round a single candidate who emerged through rigorous voting process out of 20 candidates that were initially nominated to lead the movement.
“The candidates were scored based on Network, Competence, track record in the current area of endeavour, appeal across the country and popularity. Honourable Shina Peller the only person that consciously built empowered young people across the country, toured many states to discuss way forward towards solving Nigeria’s numerous problems with young people and traditional rulers. We are calling on honourable Peller to once again avail himself and heed our clarion call to serve majority of Nigeria’s populace the young people,” Aminu said.
Also speaking, National Publicity Secretary Mohammed Hassan said the group is guided by the aspiration of the entire youth population.
He dispelled insinuations that the selection process doesn’t have enough spread.
Hassan said, “The Nigerian youths is a great asset of the country. We have representatives from all parts of the country. We didn’t nominate a single person from a particular region. Nomination came from all parts of Nigeria. We are hoping for a political party that will be youth inclusive, in the absence of that we opted for candidates whom we know have missions and visions.”
