Youths under the aegis of Nigerian Youth League says true political change in the country can be achieved, if young people were given adequate chance.

Speaking at a press briefing in Gombe, Mustapha Aminu, National President of the Nigerian Youth League, said only a youth can bring the desired change the country has been yearning for.

He revealed that the Nigerian Youth League has found no other person to meet the yearnings and make the change for Nigerians other than Hon. Shina Pella, a National Assembly member representing Iseyin Oyo State.

According to him, after series of consultations and permutations with various stakeholders across the length and breadth of the country, they came to the conclusion that 2023 is the year for the young people to take over.

He said, “We decided that we have come of age. We are determined and this time, I’m glad to inform you that we have a candidate.

” For the first time in the history of Nigeria’s democracy, all youths stakeholders are rallying behind a single candidate who emerged through a rigorous voting process out of 20 candidates that were initially nominated to lead the movement, the candidates were scored based on some factors,” he said.

He enumerated the factors to include, the network of the person, his competence, track record in his area of endeavour, appeal across the country and popularity.

“The candidate with the highest score is no other person than the renowned entrepreneur, philanthropist, a vibrant politician and above all, a young, friendly and accessible lawmaker from Iseyin, Oyo State, Hon Shina Abiola Pella.

“We are hereby calling on Hon Shina Abiola Pella to once again avail himself and heed our clarion call to come and serve the interest of majority of Nigeria’s populace,” Aminu added.

On her part, Tabitha Babayo, Director, Women Affairs of the league, said, the right person for Nigeria’s Presidency is Shina Pella because he has shown the characteristics of a good leader.

Babayo said Peller as an entrepreneur has empowered and trained uncountable number of youths in many capacities especially on how to be financially dependent and stand on their own.

She added that nothing can stop the success of the movement if youths rally round Shina Pella, no matter which Party he flies, since the youths make up the majority in all voting processes.

Also speaking, National Publicity Secretary of the League, Mohammed Hassan Hassan, said the Nigerian youth have always been yearning for a stake in Nigeria’s decision making process and wouldn’t want to miss this opportunity.

“We are always ready to make sure that we have the right candidate whenever the opportunity avails itself,” he said.
