Stakeholders want Sickle cell clients included in Gombe health scheme
Stakeholders in health sector have called on Gombe state government to enroll sickle cell clients on Gombe State Contributory Health Agency (Go-Health ) as beneficiaries.
They made the call yesterday in Gombe during the one day stakeholders engagement and dialogue organised by Rural Health Mission a Non Governmental Organisation in commemoration of the 2021 Universal Health Coverage .
According to them, enrolment of sickle cell clients would go a long way in assisting them to get their drugs at affordable price.
The stakeholders commended the state government for the introduction of Go-Health programme and urged the government to redouble effort toward effective financing of health care service in the state .
Mal.Mohammed Adamu Programme Manager Rural Health Mission Nigeria said the programme was aimed at providing a friendly platform for policy makers and civil society organizations to identify opportunities for advocacy and collaboration in order to advance universal coverage toward achieving SDGs 2030 in Gombe state and the country at large.
He said the meeting would also identify critical challenges and urgent steps to improve Universal Health Coverage in the state.
The programme Manager said the event was supported by Gem Hub Initiative,WACI Health ,GFAN -Africa and JAAids .
He added that the theme of this year “ commemoration is Leave No One’s Health Behind :Invest in Health System for all.
Dr.Musa Yahaya,Executive Secretary Go-Health said the Agency was created inline with the universal standard to assist the public in accessing affordable health care.
He said the Agency was Planing to register people from the informal sector part from those that were registered from the formal sector.
Also speaking, Alhaji Mohammed Magaji Commissioner of Finance represented by Malam Yusuf Kwami staff of the Ministry said,Plans are underway to release counterparts funding for various health projects in the state.
Dr. Isiayaku Mohammed Special Adviser on Budget Planing and Donor Agencies promised stronger synergy with donor Agencies working in all sector especially health and education.
