Gombe Immigration Controller Oyigwu dies, Gov Yahaya mourns
The Gombe State Controller of Immigration, Habu Oyigwu has been confirmed dead, at Federal Teaching Hospital on Saturday, after brief illness, Periscope Nigeria gathered.
Oyigwu who has had robust career, in recent past served as Personal Assistant, Special Assistant to three controller’s the headquarters, before he resumed duty in Gombe on 16th September 2021.
Reacting to Oyigwu’s demise, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya said he received it with sadness, he described the death of the late NIS Controller as deeply painful and a big loss to the service, Gombe State and Nigeria as a whole.
According to a press statement issued by Ismaila Uba, Director General Press Affairs Government House, Yahaya said the deceased was a highly resourceful man and fine officer who served the nation diligently and carried out his duties with sense of pride and patriotism.
The statement partly read, “Oyigwu’s service in Gombe from 16th September, 2021 until his death had been eventful and characterised with contributions that greatly assisted the government in managing issues around the security of lives and property of the citizenry.
“On behalf of the government and people of Gombe State, I wish to convey heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the Comptroller- General, men and officers of the Nigerian Immigration and the state command of the service as well as the government and people of Nasarawa State, where the deceased hailed from.”
Yahaya noted that as a former member of the Gombe State Security Council, the late controller’s contributions during deliberations were very useful and incisive.
“We Pray Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and reward his good deeds with Aljannat Firdaus,” the statement added.
