Gombe Deputy Gov joins Christians in Gombe to celebrate Easter Monday
The Gombe State Deputy Governor Manassah Daniel Jatau, was among thousands of Christian faithfuls who thronged the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Centre, Gombe, to celebrate the risen of Jesus.

The Deputy Governor, in a message to the Christian faithfuls marking the celebration of Easter Monday organised by CAN, Gombe Chapter, said the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ gives hope of salvation.

He said that the resurrection of Jesus is a sign that every challenge the believers have as individuals and as a Church shall be reversed just like the verdict of God upon humanity was reversed by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He expressed delight that the spirit of Easter has brought Christians from all denominations to be under an umbrella of unity and oneness without minding who came from ECWA, Catholic, Celestial, Living Faith and other sections as enshrined in John Chapter seventeen verse eleven” that they maybe one”.
He challenged the Church to continue uniting in prayer so that the numerous challenges of failure to love one another, insecurity, betrayal, poverty and many other ills, would be surmounted.
Drawing from Biblical references, the Deputy Governor mentioned cases in the scriptures where God had to rescind his verdicts on mankind because of fervent and persistent prayers, calling on Christians to insist on their knees so that God would reverse the challenges they are facing.
Jatau noted with happiness the recent trouping of men of God into Gombe like, Pastor Enenche of Dunamis Church, Pastor El-Buba, General Overseer of Redeemed Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, ECWA President, Rev. Dr. Stephen Panya Baba, and Joshua Selman of Koinonia Ministries, pointing out that it’s an indication that God has a plan for Gombe State and if the church in Gombe accepts the challenges left, great things would be reversed for their good.

He stressed that the Ramadan Period, Christian Lent, and the Easter happening at the same time wasn’t a mere coincidence but a divine message to teach lessons of unity, love, and sacrifice and that differences should be discarded.
He conveyed the goodwill message of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and good people of Gombe State to Christians, praying for a successful Easter celebration.
In their separate remarks, the Members, House of Representatives, representing Balanga-Billiri and Kaltungo-Shongom, Mr. Victor Mela, and Dr. Simon Elisha Karu congratulated Christians for a peaceful and successful Easter celebration and reiterated their unflinching support to the Church and generality of the people in their respective constituencies.
They revealed that they have done a lot in touching the lives of the people in their constituencies and would continue to do so within the confines of their responsibilities, pledging to support the activities of CAN towards progress of the Church and the society.
In their respective goodwill messages, the Retired Acting Chief Judge of Gombe State, Justice Beatrice Iliya and Chief Dr. Lucy Henry explained that Easter celebration symbolises unity, love, deliverance and sacrifice, urging Christians to imbibe the lesson so that they shall be victorious over all challenges in their lives.
Justice Beatrice Iliya appreciated God and the Church for standing by her during her period of trials, praying God that all those facing any form of challenge shall also overcome in the spirit of Easter.
Delivering the sermon, Pastor Gabriel Wayas, Provincial Pastor of Redeemed Christian Church of God Gombe, took his text from Mark chapter 16 verse 14 -15, Luke Chapter 10 verse 19 and John Chapter 3 verse 35, pointing out that christians have been commissioned to be the light of the world.
Preaching on the theme” He is alive” and the topic “Resurrection; the light booster” the man of God cautioned that light does not encourage selfishness, corruption and segregation but plants righteousness and root out any form of ungodliness.
He admonished them to shine their light without limitations and no longer allow room for division and pollution of the church and the society.
The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Reverend Father Joseph Alphonsus Shinga, charged Christians to hold fast unto the hope of salvation in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He urged them to pray for Leaders in government and in Church for sustainable spiritual and socioeconomic growth of the Church and society.
